We will not fight', 19th May 2016, 7.30pm Old Court
Room, Oxford Town Hall
Play, written by Canterbury Amnesty International Group, adapted by
Jeremy Allen: An UnderConstruction Theatre production (www.underconstructiontheatre.com).
'We will not fight' tells the story of what happened to the
men that refused to fight, because they felt that war was wrong and
they could take no part in it. The play explores the fate of Conscientious
Objectors through the journey of one man who refused to abandon his
principles. The play provides an unrivalled opportunity for a wide audience
of Oxford communities to hear about a side of the First World War that
is little known yet important in our history of the growth of individual
liberties and strength of commitment to human rights. The performance
will be followed by an audience discussion. Register here
(the event is free).
